32nd, ASBJ, No topics in this issue for Taxation, Caractères

1. Accounting (Source: “Keiei Zaimu Magazine”, opinion by the editor)

On September 17, the Accounting Standards Board of Japan (ASBJ) published a project plan towards the convergence between IFRS and JGAAP.
The plan aims to eliminate differences between the two standards by 2011, but does not seem to contain any of its unique perspectives.

3. This Week’s Words of Wisdom (Source: “Caractères”)

“Man has but three events in his life: to be born, to live, and to die. He is not conscious of his birth, he suffers at his death and he forgets to live.”
(Jean de La Bruyére, French Moralist)

The French seem to have a long history of satire as can be seen from this quote and other writers such as Montaigne and La Rochefoucauld.

Although it is difficult to comment specifically, the above quote is very moving indeed.

People are Talking

  • “Nagamine was instrumental in setting up our first Japanese entity in 2008, allowing us to hit the ground running when we arrived.

Since then they have been crucial in the smooth running of our business. We use them to organize our bookkeeping, payroll and social insurance, tax reports and returns.

Their bilingual staff are a pleasure to deal with and are always going above and beyond their usual tasks when we need extra help. We find them extremely reliable and we look forward to working with them into the future.”
